Participant Cancellation
Refunds: Due to the nature of our competitions, administrative costs, and planning requirements, registration fees for the EconScholar Olympiad are non-refundable once paid. We understand that unforeseen situations may arise, but please note that once registration is complete, no refunds will be issued for cancellations, regardless of the reason.
Request for Withdrawal: If you are unable to participate after registration, you may contact the EconScholar Olympiad via email at director@econscholar.com to notify us of your intent to withdraw. While no refund will be issued, we may offer the opportunity to defer your participation to a future competition, subject to availability and specific circumstances. Deferrals are not guaranteed and may be contingent on availability or logistical factors.
Transfer of Registration: In exceptional cases, and at the discretion of the EconScholar Olympiad organizers, you may request to transfer your registration to another eligible participant.The new participant will need to meet all eligibility requirements and agree to the terms and conditions.
Cancellation by the EconScholar Olympiad
Competition Cancellation: The EconScholar Olympiad reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any competition at its sole discretion due to unforeseen circumstances, insufficient participation, or any other reason. In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified via the contact information provided during registration. In such cases, a full refund of the registration fee will be issued to all registered participants.
Force Majeure: The EconScholar Olympiad is not liable for cancellations, delays, or rescheduling resulting from events beyond its control. These may include, but are not limited to, natural disasters, political unrest, government regulations, strikes, technical failures, pandemics, or other force majeure events. In the case of such events, we will make reasonable efforts to notify participants promptly and will work to reschedule or offer alternative participation opportunities. However, no compensation (financial or otherwise) will be offered for delays, cancellations, or other issues caused by force majeure events.
Impact on Competition Content or Prizes: If the competition format, content, or prizes are affected by external events or circumstances beyond our control, we will make reasonable adjustments where possible. These may include modifying competition dates, changing prize allocations, or altering certain event elements to ensure fairness. Participants will be notified of such changes as soon as possible.
No Show / Non-Participation
Non-Participation: If a participant fails to engage with the competition or submit required materials (such as reports, essays, or other submissions), they will not be entitled to a refund or compensation. This includes instances of "no-show" participants who do not attend scheduled events or fail to complete competition tasks within the designated timeframes. We strongly encourage participants to review competition requirements and deadlines carefully before registering.
Unforeseen Circumstances: In rare cases, if a participant experiences extraordinary circumstances (e.g., medical emergencies, family crises) that prevent participation, they may request consideration for an exemption from non-participation penalties. Such requests must be submitted in writing, with supporting documentation, and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. However, refunds will not be granted under these circumstances.
Modifications to Competition Format or Rules
Changes to Competition Structure: The EconScholar Olympiad reserves the right to modify the competition format, rules, deadlines, or other elements as necessary to improve the event or adapt to unforeseen issues. Any significant changes will be communicated to participants promptly via email or other official channels. By continuing to participate after such modifications, participants agree to the updated rules and formats.
Clarifications or Adjustments: If there is a need for clarifications or adjustments to competition guidelines, participants will be informed with sufficient time to comply with new requirements. In cases of rule ambiguities or conflicts, the EconScholar Olympiad organizers will have the final decision, ensuring fairness and transparency for all participants.
Additional Rounds or Opportunities: In some cases, the competition organizers may choose to add additional rounds, extensions, or alternative participation opportunities based on the number of participants, challenges, or other factors.
